A Nutritionist Weighs in...

This is not your average diet, since it goes much deeper than simply how to lose weight. In fact, the concept of losing weight is not really mentioned. The focus of this diet is on learning to tune into your feelings, thoughts, and relationship with food. This diet is for someone who has many issues when it comes to food, whether it is overeating, undereating, or any other sort of eating disorder.

It does offer some good tips for dealing with family holidays and eating out, which may be helpful for someone who finds these times stressful when it comes to eating. If you are just looking to lose weight and you do not consider yourself an emotional eater, then this plan may not be for you.

Learn to pay attention and you can gain control

Following the Eating Mindfully Plan is about changing your frame of mind, rather than following a diet. This plan could be practical for you if you are willing to take the time to tune into how you feel and what foods you are craving. On the other hand, if you are more of a grab-and-go eater, you will not find savoring every bite practical at all. Since no foods are off-limits, traveling and eating with family members should not be a problem. You are free to enjoy your favorite indulgence, as long as you are mindful about it.

Diet Pros Diet Cons

  • No information on what to eat
  • May take time to incorporate the tips and strategies recommended
  • May not find the plan relevant to your needs
  • Requires deep thinking and reflection about yourself - which may not be for everyone
